i just wanted to draw attention to the beastie boys for a second. as you may have heard, adam yauch, a.k.a mca, passed away earlier today after a long battle with cancer. i am a big music fan and have been a following the beastie boys for almost 20 years, and the impact their music has had on me is nothing short of profound. their inane wit, musicianship, and rapping skills were second to none. so it is with great sadness that i wish his family my most sincere condolences; the world is worse for their loss.
you probably also know that mr. yauch was a practicing buddhist and an activist whose efforts were focused on tibetan sovereignty. here’s a clip of one of the many tibetan freedom concerts held in the us in the late 90s and early 2000s. please enjoy.
